What’s In A Turtle Burger? Not What You’d Think [Laugh Of The Day] 5

Posted by Foodie Buddha on April 08, 2009

So when a friend of mine told me I should try a turtle burger, I was intrigued to say the least.  I’ve eaten turtle soup and find it to be pretty tasty.  Unfortunately, it turns out, this puppy isn’t very edible.  I’m sure you can figure out why!  Mixed in with a good bit of non-thematic pictures, flaunted has some great pics.  However, this turtle burger takes the cake:

I had a Russian tortoise named Mortis who looked just like this only sans toppings. Sadly he was wandering in our back yard one day and slipped through a hole in the fence never to bean seen again. I always wonder how a tortoise who was accustomed to eating mixed vegetables and greens would fare in the real world. I hope he is still alive.

    Dear Stephanie,

I am your neighbor, and a liar. By the way, do you have Zoe’s number?

(one million points if you get that)

ANYWAY, I just wanted to comment on how ironic it is that your tortoise ran away. I also had a turtle not that long ago that flew the coop, so to speak, never to be seen again. How is it that these creatures, of high renown for their lack of speed, seem to be able to escape from pet-dom?

Definitely looks like a Russian tortoise. Luckily mine is safely in his little (Rubbermaid) habitat, happily munching some lettuce. I’ve taken him outside before – he is FAST when he wants to be. I had to dig him out from under a huge rock in the yard. Entertaining the idea of a tattoo of my tortoise strapped to a rocket because of it.
