I didn't question the authenticity of the food - in fact - I said just the opposite. As I said, I walk to Papi's for lunch quite a bit.

Interesting that you said that it's my job to be a food critic. I'm actually gainfully employed elsewhere and simply do this for personal enjoyment. I'm not sure why you're offended. I didn't make any derogatory comments about Cubans and/or the food.

Moreover, the croquette sandwich is unhealthy - AND that's my favorite sandwich there. So, I'm sorry to say, but you've lost me a bit again.

This was a part of my sandwich tour - so all that I was talking about were the sandwiches that I had - that day - at Papi's.

Good Morning Foodiebuddha:

I just read your review on this restaurant and here are some of my comments. I am Cuban born in Cuba and lived there for 23 years. Needless to say, I am well aware of what Cuban food is and what it should taste like. I frequent this restaurant as well as other Cuban restaurants in the area and I am of the opinion that this restaurant is one of, if not, the MOST authentic Cuban restaurant in Atlanta. I understand that our food my not be the most "healthiest" however, as far as the taste and ingredients used at Papis, I can assure you that authenticity is not questionable.

I understand that you are a food critic and it’s your job, however, as a Cuban I was a bit offended by your comments related to how "unhealthy" our food is. Although your choice of food the day you visited Papis was the sandwich with ham on ham etc. etc., perhaps you should have tried their Black Beans (fiber), or one of their meat or chicken meals or a salad ( which is one of my personal favorites). All in all, I understand your job however; it would have been nice to hear some positive as it relates to Cuban Food In General.

Respectfully,

Lorena

I know many a people who love that sandwich. I find it, like the other sandwiches I have had there, to be solid - but somewhat lacking in "personality." Still, I can't really fault people for loving it :-)
