Yup, Delicate Flower, you're right. Duk-bokkee (or "dduk bok ki", or "dduk bokee", or "ddook bukee", among some other spelling methods...depends which ajuma is spelling it :P) actually refers to the RICE cake, not the fish cake. However, fish cake pieces are often an ingredient in the duk-bokkee dish, along with the spicy red sauce, and some onions slivers. I've even had dduk-bok, the cylindrical rice cakes, all by itself, naked as it were--but given a spicy/savory dipping sauce. It's a typical Korean family snack.

Is the "duk-bokee" really fish cake? I ask because my mom is from Pusan, and the dukboki that I know is actually cylindrical rice cake cooked in red pepper sauce. Just wondering.
