Bobby and Junes officially closed its doors yesterday Nov 24th. WSBTV ran a short story on last nights news but there is no news otherwise. I was at the restaurant in the morning and all of the knick knacks were coming down. Very sad indeed.

I have it on good authority [neighboring "Jerry the Barber"] that Bobby & June's will close at the end of April. Apparently, he's had the property on the market for quite some time ($3MM), but the business is no longer generating enough traffic to keep it open while he looks for a buyer. [I think he may just be ready to retire].

I've lived nearby for 10 years and never been in to Bobby & June's. Cute building, but with the ever-increasing number of options in midtown I've just never been able to come up with a good enough reason to make time for Bobby & June's.

I haven't eaten at Bobby and June's in over 10 years, but used to enjoy their down-home southern cooking often at lunch. It was the 2 inch long cockroach entombed in my dining companion's grits one day that put a stop to my visits and has haunted my dreams ever since. If it had been in the collards or any other side, I could have gotten over it. But in the grits? Shudder.

If price is an issue for Bobby & June's at breakfast, go with the $3.75 breakfast plate. For around $5 including tip (no drink - I usually get water), you can get plenty... 2 eggs any style, bacon or sausage, grits or gravy, biscuits or toast. A steal of a deal!
