Despite the tragic end to the World Cup just a handful of weeks back, it looks like I have another reason to break out my beloved Oranje jersey before 2014. It turns out that Whataburger, another one of those boutique burger chains, is handing out free burgers. On August 3rd 2010, if you walk in to any Whataburger in the fast food nation, you get a free burger. Ah … but there’s a catch. You see, you have to show up between 5-8pm and you have to wear a piece of Dutch soccer paraphernalia.
Okay, I fibbed a little, you don’t actually have to wear something Dutch … just something orange. The event is a celebration of the franchise’s 60th year in biz. Those of us in the ATL can get in on the action if our heart and our gas tank so desires. With locations in Thomasville and near Savannah (x2), it looks like South Georgia is your best bet if you’re hell bent on staying inside state lines. If you don’t mind handing your tax dollars to another state, Birmingham is actually your best bet to snag one of these (mappage).

Works for me … i suppose … no check that, why make a run for the border if you’re going on a diet. But free is free. To print it, you actually have to click. Apparently, you get 7-days to cash in on your new found wealth. Unless of course, 1 million are handed out.

The picture says it all. This Sunday, Quattro in Midtown is celebrating their three-year anniversary with a little free food. From 4pm to 7pm, you can stop in at this Piedmont Park restaurant and watering hole and grab some grub. Sounds like this would be a good time for me to drop some thoughts on the joint, so maybe I’ll do that in the next few days.

Tis the time of year that puts us knee-deep in festivals and restaurant weeks. Whether you spell it barbecue, barbeque, bar-b-q, or just plain ole BBQ, the Atlanta BBQ Festival seems ripe for a crowd in its inaugural run. The event, which runs from 10am-6pm on Saturday, September 12th and has over 700 confirmed guests, will take up the green lot in front of Turner Field. Though you’ll be able to grab some suds, this will be a kid friendly event. In addition to the barbecue related activities, there will be live music, baseball clinics, and half-price tours of Turner field. The organizer of this event is one Bob Herndon. Herndon, who has established the Atlanta BBQ Club (website/twitter), comes backed with a National BBQ Judge certification.
The star of the show, not surprisingly, is going to be the plethora of BBQ contests on tap. While all the contests offer up cash bling … the coolest prize is most definitely for the “Professional Division.” The top earner will walk away with $1500 and a contract with Turner Field to sell their BBQ at a Braves game next season. I’ll be hitting that game up, as well as this event! Full details are available at the Atlanta BBQ Festival website.

Don’t judge the importance of this post by its brevity as we have one hell of a freebee on tap for next week. Ladies and germs, mark your calendars because on Monday, September 7th, 2009 … every Chick-Fil-A will serve up one FREE original chicken sandwich to any and all customers who show up sporting sports-related apparel. If you’re not sure where the nearest CFA is … check out their restaurant locator. Alrighty then .. That’s all she wrote folks!

Who doesn’t like free stuff? I know I do. Food Arts Magazine, a publication focused on the restaurant and hotel business, is ponying up some free samples. All you have to do is fill out this form. Now mind you, this offer is only available to qualified professionals, so you may not actually get accepted even if you fill out the form. However, if you do qualify, you will be handsomely rewarded.
Amongst the many benefits, Food Arts has a good number of excellent recipes. Geared toward restaurateurs, you’ll get your fill of commercial grade equipment; however, they also touch on wine and spirits from time to time. If the offer isn’t for you, but you are still interested in the magazine, check out their website, which has a decent bit of info available for free.

To celebrate their annual customer appreciation day, Chick-Fil-A is giving away a free meal to each and every customer (sort of). All you have to do is show up dressed as a moo cow. No word on just how much effort you need to put into your outfit … but it seems to me that the cost of the meal will be less than the cost of the outfit. You can find the nearest Chick-Fil-A here.
Meanwhile, cruel parents can dress their youngins up, take a pic, and post it online. The winner of that contest gets a $1,000 Savings bond. Nice! I would gladly sacrifice my younger brother’s dignity for that; unfortunately, he’s over the age of 10

Alright ya’ll, while the emails are still coming in from last Friday’s post, I thought I’d do something a little different to get the rest of the books out the door. All you have to do here is post a comment that talks about your favorite “____” here in the ATL. Be it your favorite chef, your favorite meal, you’re favorite restaurant … I don’t care. Just make it food related and make sure to stand out. That’s it! Easy breezy… I’ll snag a few of you over the next couple of days until they’re all gone! Thanks again to Magnolia Pictures for making this possible!
Oh yeah, you’re email address isn’t displayed to anyone but me. So, use a real one; otherwise, how am I going to find you?
