Orleagian Snowballs: Bouncing Here And There And Everywhere [Street Food]

orleagian snowballs - the truck

Gummy Bears!  You know them, you love them, and you still eat them.  Their TV show rocked mad musical beats, and all you want to do is pop them like the pills.  But why eat them straight out ‘the package when you can dunk them in a vat of frozen deliciousness?

Yes, at Orleagian Snowballs (or-lee-gin) at the corner of Moreland and Ponce De Leon, you too can grab one of these snowball treasure chests.  Unlike this son of a bitch, marinating gummy bears in fruit flavored syrup is anything but wrong.  It’s Orleagian’s call to arms and makes eating an already delicious snowball just that much better.

Yes, The Wendy’s Grand Slam Does Exist (And Partial Nudity Makes Food Easier To Eat) [Laugh Of The Day] 1

Posted by foodiebuddha on September 17, 2009

A few days ago, I was reminded how great Big Mac Sauce is.  Last night, Adam Biderman was kind enough to direct me to another fast food treat … the Wendy’s Grand Slam.  The minimum requirement for this mythic piece of heart attack is the four beef-substitute patties.  Beyond that, everything is just a blur.

Anywho, some dude took the time to film himself eating one of these massive mounds of ground round.  Though I would have preferred he left his clothes on, and something about the guys affect, when combined with the sound of him eating, just cuts my nerves like fingernails to a chalkboard, it’s an interesting watch

Speaking of Biderman: For those of you who didn’t hear, Adam kicked H+F and we Terminites to the curb some months ago.  To complete the dagger to the chest, he packed up his knife kit and headed back to the Big Easy, his place of origin.  Though the departures of Sotohiro Kosugi, Guenter Seeger, and Michael Tuohy get a lot more attention, Biderman’s adieu was no less frustrating.  While the other three went straight for the bling, Biderman’s cooking was always approachable and accessible while providing your taste buds with an ample challenge.  These days, you can catch him at Herbsaint (website), where he has just moved to the lunch shift.  So next time any of ya’ll head that way – go give Adam some Suth’un love.

Breaking News: Adam Biderman Out At Holeman & Finch

Posted by foodiebuddha on May 10, 2009

This has the potential to break my heart.  I, along with every other foodie in ATL, love Holeman & Finch, that über cool English pub in Peachtree Hills.  Well, according to his own facebook status, Adam Biderman is packing his bags and moving to New Orleans.  No word yet on when he’s departing H&F.  It’s possible he’s already done; but, I saw him there on Thursday night. Update: Adam Is There Through The End of May!!!!!

In the meantime, I can assure you that this will be something I’ll keep my eyes on.  Regan, Greg, Linton, and the rest of the gang run a hell of an operation.  I am curious to see what the end result of this is.  While I think Adam does a  top notch job and this makes me sad … I wish him the best of luck on his journey home.

That all said, I expect H&F to remain my favorite hangout joint in town.

Lunch At Parish: Nothing New … Yet [Quick Hits]

Posted by foodiebuddha on April 01, 2009

parish flagTwo-months ago, the NY Times brought Serenbe Farms in Palmetto, GA to our attention.  The Newspaper was a shining moment for chef Nick Melvin.  Not a moment later, Melvin went splits-ville.  I, like most everyone else, had no idea where he headed off to. On March 31st, Concentrics Restaurants lifted the veil from over our eyes.

Melvin, a New Orleans native, has returned to ATL to run Parish, a farm-to-table “Cajun influenced” restaurant concept down in Inman Park.  While I suspect most of the real changes will take place in their main dining room, I wanted to dive in for lunch to see if anything had happened with the downstairs market. [By the way, the changes I expect to see are with the menu and not with the decor or the concept of the restaurant].
