While the Food Network seems the likely destination for all the best food TV shows, that heavy weight belt might actually go to The Travel Channel. In addition to Tony’s food porn-erific No Reservations, TC is home to Man v. Food, Adam Richman’s tribute to all things gluttonous. The competitive eating show lands in Miami tonight, February 3rd, for a 2-hour special that starts at 9pm EST.
Included in the festivities is a live broadcast of Richman trying to take down a 48 oz. steak from none other than Don Shula’s eponymous Shula’s Steakhouse. As the Super Bowl hits Miami on the 7th, it’s no surprise that Man V Food decided to incorporate grub from the restaurant of the only man to ever lead an NFL team to a undefeated season through their super bowl (my Pats were still better yo!).
For the past few weeks, Travel-C has been bringing the media blitz. Like the slave to trends that I am, I’ll ride that wave and grab you a copy of the gratuitously bikini clad Nori … who has 3-minutes to down three milkshakes in Babe v Food. If you want more Adam, be sure to check out 411 Mania’s interview with the dude.
I love people who are kind enough to help me out with my blog. It usually results in the ideal combination of less work for me + great content. What’s not to love? When fellow foodie and blogger Michael Fenster (Doc) offered to chime in with a review of the lauded Bone’s Steakhouse, I was all over that like white on rice. What follows is Doc’s recap of a recent trip. Doc didn’t have a camera, so that juicy steak appears courtesy of the Bone’s website
Rachael Ray does food porn like there is no tomorrow (NSFW vid after the jump!). However, she also has quite a following for her show entitled “Every Day.” Recently, she organized a bracket busting tournament that included 17 critics, 20 meals, and two Atlanta steakhouses.
Event to be held Friday, January 30th from 5pm-9pm
A few days ago, word spread that Parker’s on Ponce Steakhouse was gearing up for a fundraiser to help their friends over at 5th Earl Market. Last week, a fare started over at Trackside Tavern, neighbor to the 5th. That fire did some serious damage (image via pdf). Well, on the heels of last nights humbling, yet successful fundraiser (internal) in honor of John Henderson, the gang at Parker’s is spreading the love! Map, event details, and message from the David and Brian after the jump.
So you still don’t know what to do for NYE. Your wife tells you that she does not want to do anything special and you are tired of spending $100 and up to go to some crummy bar that’s way too crowded. Well, have no fear …. one of the best steakhouses in town is running a great special!
The Lobster Bar at Chops has long served as a reliable dining spot for my family. In years past, we would frequent The Dinning Room for our non-secular Christmas Eve dinner; however, in recent years we have opted for the more relaxed atmosphere of the Lobster Bar.
While both Chops and the Lobster Bar sit firmly entrenched amongst the small circle of "elite" Atlanta restaurants, you may find the experience fluctuates with regards to execution. However, in a city with a dearth of good seafood, the Lobster Bar stands up just fine. This past dinner was no exception, and I will do my best to mix in my past experiences with this post.
Who doesn’t love a free food? I know I do! This Sunday, every Morton’s Steakhouse in the country is serving up free “Bar Burgers” from 5pm-6pm. Luckily for us in the ATL, there are two locations! So have at it because this offer doesn’t come around too often! I’ve taken the liberty of providing you links to the respective maps for each location. Less research means more time for food … right?
