Buckhead’s sushi scene is about to get a lot more crowded. A few months ago, word broke that Tomo was set to open in The Ritz-Carlton residences building,  At the time, owner/chef Tomohiro Naito was not sure if his namesake restaurant would keep its current location in Vinings.  Well, according to several of their servers, the Vinings location isn’t going anywhere.  As for the soon to be Buckhead joint, the details are still coming together.  As for now, Restaurants Consulting Group is handling the design, and they have said that the plans are to make the restaurant into a higher-end sushi bar.  There’s no confirmed word yet on an exact opening date, but end of summer was tossed around.

With the days winding down until the October 1 closing of The Dining Room, there is no doubt that a number of people won’t have a chance to get their fix before the Buckhead hallmark says adios.  Luckily, former blogger Rowdy Food took the time to photo-document his recent trip to see Arnaud Berthelier at The Ritz-Carlton.  The pictures from the meal are very well done and the video won’t take much of your time.  If you like what you see (and you should), I suggest you check out Rowdy’s youtube stream.  He’s got quite the collection.

So I actually have a ton of work to do right now for my 9-5 … thus, this will be brief.  Maybe I’ll come back later to add some context and some links…but in the meantime check out the several Atlanta culinary establishments and personalities that are semi-finalists for the foodie equivalent of the Oscars.

While Atlanta lacks the culinary depth of a place like Chicago, we do quite well at the top.  The JBAs certainly seem to agree with me on the second part of that statement.
