Recently I had the opportunity to try out Two Urban Licks, a restaurant owned by the same folks that run One Midtown Kitchen and Trois. Self described as ‘fiery American food,’ Two Urban Licks offers a diverse menu that changes daily, and offers hearty seasonal dishes with options that even fill up gluten-free bellies.
I went with a group of friends on a Friday night to Two Urban Licks and it was quite a happening place. With high ceilings, live music, full tables, and the kitchen located in the center of the restaurant, surrounded by glass, there’s action everywhere. Being that it was a weekend night, it was particularly loud and I was glad that our table was far away from the band. (Does that make me old and lame?)

Another week comes, another “restaurant week” hits. Atlanta’s Midtown Restaurant Week, which drops for the 4th time, starts tonight (August 29) and runs through Sunday, September 6th. This one features a whopping 43 restaurants (if my math is correct). In what has become formulaic normalcy, you show up at one of the participating restaurants, ask for and order off a special prix-fixe menu, and get three courses for $25. Don’t forget: alcohol isn’t included, and neither is tax and gratuity. If you want the full on onslaught of information, check out the Midtown Restaurant Week official website. Otherwise, just keep reading for the list of menus and restaurants!

Looking for something to do this weekend? Head down to Grant Park for the 7th annual Corks And Forks event. The event runs Saturday, August 29th and Sunday, August 30th (1-5pm both days). For $45/day, you have an opportunity to taste a lot of food and drink from a number of Atlanta restaurants. When you show up, you are given a bag of color-coded chips. The chips give you an opportunity to sample each eatery. However, food is limited, so get there early. Complete list after the jump!

A friend of mine was asking me for advice on where to go for her birthday. I realized by the time we were done … that was good fodder for a post. This is by no means an attempt to offer up a “definitive” list of party grub in the Dirty. Rather, here are just a few spots that seem to work well for when you want to hang with your crew. The focus here isn’t as much on the food as it is on the experience. That said, *most* of these offer up serviceable grub. The list after the jump!

On Monday, Serpas True Food said "Hello World” over at Studioplex. As you have figured out by now, I make it a point to check out most new hot spots sooner than later. Last night was just such a night; I performed my civic duty and made my way down to the Old 4th Ward to check out the spot. Since I am well versed on Scott Serpas’ prior engagements, I had no problem giving this place a cold call [that is – I had not read any reviews/previews that discussed food, decor, etc…]. However, I have taken a peak at a few since my meal.
