肉 + ㆔
Were you ever around during the formative years for a band that ultimately hit it big? If you’re anything like me, you feel somewhat responsible for that band’s success and you wear that like a badge of honor. Ladies and gents, I think you have an opportunity to be a part of that type of culinary explosion. It seems that Bryson Tedford and Moses Archuleta are kicking ass and taking names. Only, they’re not a band and they aren’t even chefs. Their like a crack-commando duo of restaurateur ilk but with a sweet ass concept that you won’t find anywhere else in Atlanta (and perhaps the country).
For the past several months, T&A have been putting on the BATON Supper Series. They bring in a super awesome chef from lands far away and plop them down in Candler Park’s Gato Bizco Café for a two night whirlwind.
Every month I sit here watching my inbox like a hawk, waiting for news of the next supper club, half expecting a “sorry folks, we just can’t do it anymore.” And so far, my fears have been summarily dismissed every single time. Bryson and Moses keep pulling in a huge name every single time. So check out the details for round 3 of BATON, which drops Monday January 16th and Tuesday January 17th of 2012.
Drum Roll Please
Round 3’s chef is Danny Bowien, who is responsible for the Szechuan infused food at Mission Chinese in San Francisco. Mission Chinese is the most talked about Chinese restaurant in the country right now … I shit you not. Those with a keen eye will know I visited Mission Chinese during my West Coast food slut fest.
I haven’t had the opportunity to recap my experience … so I’ll give you the short of the long:
- Did Mission Chinese live up to the hype? Nope, not even close.
- Am I any less excited about this meal? Nope, not at all.
What You’re Signing Up For
True to the playful nature of the gig, the title for this is a little playful. The dinner is actually identified by that little Chinese formula you saw above (肉 + ㆔). It translates loosely to Meat & Three. So expect this to be a playful take on the very definition of Southern food. Beyond that, I have no idea what will actually end up on the menu.
Here are your options
